Tom van Eijk
Drs. T.G.J. (Tom) van Eijk trained as a physician at the University of Nijmegen and the University of Amsterdam, in the Academic Medical Center. During his studies, he conducted research in the Department of Experimental Surgery on the physical properties of bio-materials. In the Department of Plastic Surgery, he was involved in research on the heredity of skin disorders.
Extensive surgical experience he gained at the Department of Cardio-Thoracic (Cardiac) Surgery at Our Lady’s Hospital. Then he was attached to the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Amsterdam Slotervaart Hospital for three years. During this time, he was trained in the field of cosmetic surgery and his interest in the possibilities of injectables such as Botox and fillers was piqued.
In fifteen years, he has become an international leader in the field of injectables. He devised the revolutionary “Fern Pattern technique” for Restylane and teaches workshops on this and other innovative techniques to fellow physicians around the world. On the technical-mechanical possibilities of hyaluronic acid, he wrote two scientific articles (“A Novel Method to Inject Hyaluronic Acid: The Fern Pattern Technique” and“Lip Tenting Technique“) that appeared in the New York Journal of Drugs in Dermatology.
Since the founding of the NVCG (Dutch Society of Cosmetic Medicine) through 2021, Tom van Eijk has been associated with it and active as a CRKBO registered trainer of physicians(Tom van Eijk Academy).
As an amateur sculptor, Tom was greatly honored when his bronze statue of Rembrandt was selected to be exhibited at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
