The use of the healing power of injections with one’s own blood is very old. The technique of stimulating tissue with platelets came over from orthopedics and dentistry where blood flow, for example in tendon injuries, needed to improve to achieve proper healing. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma which means as much as platelet-rich plasma.
The material used for treatment consists of the platelet-containing plasma which comes from your own blood. This is done by taking a tube of blood from your arm. The blood is placed in a special centrifuge in which the plasma containing the platelets (the PRP) separates from the white and red blood cells. In this plasma, these platelets release active growth factors. The plasma is injected superficially into the skin through a thin needle. The growth factors have a healing, (circulatory) stimulating and thus rejuvenating effect on the skin.

Collagen, in particular, provides firmness and thus works to prevent skin aging. You will have radiant, tighter skin. Because blood is used, some clinics also use the spectacular name “vampire facelift.
This treatment can be done in the face. However, the skin of neck, décolleté and hands can also benefit from this procedure. The result is visible after just two weeks and the effect will become even more beautiful during the following weeks. Alternative therapy for improving the skin may include laser, peels (including TCA), botox or filler treatments.
